KAN Sports World is an ambitious organization focused on promoting and evolving Handball at a national level under the guidelines of Handball Federation of India.

We pride ourselves as the only private organization who took the initiative of presenting India’s first women’s handball league called ‘Handball Women’s Power CUP, 2018’. Our previous efforts evidently mark our involvement in the world of sports.

We have sponsored Indian female handball teams during several international tournaments that were held in Thailand, France, Hong Kong and Uzbekistan.

We also organized North Zone Handball Championship League in September 2017 with the participation of more than 200 players.

Our history

WOMEN'S POWER CUP, 2018

Handball Women’s Power Cup, 2018 was the inception of an ambitious idea to transform, organize and promote Handball across India. With the sole aim of promoting Indian Handball players globally meanwhile introducing Handball to Indian audience like never before.

KAN Sports, under the astute guidance of ‘Handball Federation of India’ successfully brought this idea to life on 12th January 2018. The tournament was considered a huge success as it was for the very first time that a Women’s Handball tournament was organized on this scale at the national level.

While more than 2000 players took part in the tournament, the spectator count rose to an astounding 3000 (approx.). The whole tournament lasted for a total of 3 days hosting 6 teams divided into two Pools of 3 teams each. Pool A consisted of Haryana Panthers, Himachal Snatchers and Delhi Fighters whereas Pool B consisted of J&K Eagles, Punjab Pacers and UP Challengers.

After 3 days of hard fought battles on the field, UP Challengers were crowned as the First Champions of Handball Women’s Power CUP, 2018 defeating Haryana Panthers 19:17 after they had overcome Himachal Snatchers in the semi-final clash.

Several distinguished guests such as Mr Chaudhary Birender Singh (Union Minister), Mr Rajeev Mehta (Secretary General of Indian Olympic Association) appeared for the tournament as Chief Guests.

Handball Federation Of India, Secretary General Mr Anandeshwar Pandey was present throughout the competition and helped to hand out the prestigious trophy and rewards at the competition’s conclusion.

The modern game of Handball was carved in 1917 in Germany and since then it has gone through several amendments as well. The first ever International Handball game for men was played in 1925 and for women’s was played in 1930.

The first ever Handball game in an Olympics happened in the 1936 Berlin games and then it made a comeback into the games in the 1972 Munich games, again in Germany. The first one was played outdoors and the second one was played indoors. The women’s version of the game was added in the 1976 Montreal games.

‘International Handball Federation’ formed in 1946 is the highest governing body for the sport having 209 countries as member federations.

The first field handball match took place in Berlin in 1936 in front of 100,000 spectators, despite being held in heavy rain.

The game was first seen in its present format at Munich Olympics in 1972 for men and Montreal Olympics in 1976 for women.

In India, the 1st Senior National Handball Championship was held at Sir Chhotu Ram Stadium, Rohtak (Haryana) in the year 1972.
